New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the death rate from the coronavirus has now fallen so low he no longer will be reporting those daily numbers.  The Democrat says, instead, he is directing the state COVID-19 dashboard to provide information on the number of tests and the number of positive results as a benchmark in calculating success in the fight against the coronavirus.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says there have been no new coronavirus infections in the region in 36 hours in spite of moving into another phase of reopening and hundreds taking to the streets, in close proximity to each other, for social justice demonstrations.

Still, Garnar reports one new death from COVID-19.  A woman in her 60s has died, bringing Broome County’s death toll to 46 and 600 total cases.

Garnar says the infection rate in Broome County and in most of the Southern Tier Region is almost negligible at this point.

Tioga, Delaware and Chenango Counties each reported one new case June 9 and no additional deaths.
