Originally written by Pete Townsend and recorded by The Who for the 1969 rock opera, 'Tommy', the song reached #19 on the U.S. Billboard charts.

Townsend wrote the lyrics through the eyes of a pinball champion who turns out to be deaf, dumb and blind, and because he is not distracted by the noises and lights of the game he plays a mean pinball.

I use to love to play Pinball when I was a kid, most of the original games are gone except for maybe a few classic machines.

Elton John performed the song in the 1975 film adaptation of the rock opera 'Tommy, he released a single version in 1976 it reached the number seven position on the billboard charts
