The musician famous for such hits as the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Sundown and If You Could Read My Mind, was to perform at the Forum Theater October 25.

Lightfoot, who will turn 81 in November, injured his leg in July when he tripped over a bench while working out at his home gym and required surgery.

According to a statement from his promotions group, complications from the injury will prevent him from traveling in time for his upcoming tour.

According to music industry accounts, Lightfoot had recently quit smoking and found a renewed passion for recording and touring after discovering some unfinished musical projects at his home.

Tickets for the October 25 show will be honored at the rescheduled event or can be refunded at the original place of purchase.
