The staff and residents at Good Shepherd Fairview, 80 Fairview Avenue in Binghamton, are teaming up to create some fun this week.  While celebrating National Nursing Home Week residents will take part in their "Dress to Impress" celebration. On Wednesday the staff is asking residents to the prom and will be setting up surprise "Prom-Posals" complete with decorations and pictures.

According to a press release highlighting the week's activities residents will will host a Prom on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM complete with dancers, music and refreshments.  Then on Friday staff members will spend extra time reminiscing about their memories of the prom.  They will talk with them about their own prom and proms of other family members including their own children.

This week's celebration is part of festivities held around the nation saluting nursing homes, staff and residents.  Events around the country have been held since 1967 and always around Mother's Day.

Good Shepherd Fairview has been offering health care services for 140 years and offers a variety of levels of assistance.  Some residents are totally independent while others range from assisted living to full-time care.  Good Shepherd Fairview also offers rehabilitation services.  These can range from post-operative rehabilitation assistance to working with individuals on balance and regaining their independence.
