The New York Giants will play their first preseason game tonight as they host the Miami Dolphins, catch all the action beginning with the pregame show at 6:05p on 991 The Whale.

We are approaching the middle of August and edging closer to the start of the official 2016 NFL football season.

The New York Giants have not made the playoffs in 4 years and they are serious about making the post season this year.

One of the biggest changes in the upcoming season will be the absence of head coach Tom Coughlin, who stepped down after the Giants missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

Enter new Giants head coach Ben McAdoo who will keep the continuity of the offense in check and with Steve Spagnola directing the defense this veteran duo should make this team competitive.

Eli Manning returns along with Odell Beckham jr. And Victor Cruz.

Big Blue have an offensive line that has improved from last year, if they can improve their running game I think they will stay in games and make them close down the stretch.

When the Giants take the field on August 12th to play the Dolphins in the first of four preseason matchups, I'm sure we'll see a lot of new faces on both sides of the ball.

I always find it interesting to see which new players will step up and stand out.

I think the Giants have a strong infrastructure on the offense, it will be interesting to see how the defense works with new players on the D line and in the backfield.

Eli Apple could be a great addition to the defensive back line along with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins.

I think the biggest improvements need to come from the Giants pass rush and their running game.

Don't expect to see a lot from the first units tonight as this is the first of four preseason games.
