I’m no great journalist or humorist, but every once in a while I put on my Andy Rooney glasses and see the world in a much different way.

I come from a time when you knew every person on your block from the neighbor kids to the elderly people who hired you to shovel their walks and take out their trash.

We played with the kids on the block till our parents yelled for us to come in, many times it was dark, we walked to school at the age of 8 by ourselves and television was minimal and always a real time event. We didn’t eat at Pizza Hut, McDonalds or any fast food place

It was a much simpler time

We did what our parents told us to do and we didn’t whine and cry and throw a fit about it. We drank a little, but we weren’t hooked on opiates like much of today’s youth.

What’s with our obsession with screens?
