Gene Simmons has ruled out the possibility of ever working with former Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent again because has has no interest in surrounding himself with “losers” who rely on alcohol and drugs.

“He’s a very talented guy,” Simmons told The Aquarian when asked if he might work with Vincent again. “Everybody’s got their troubles in life. You can’t fix everything. I’m a big supporter of his talent – you know, go with God, enjoy life, be happy. But I don’t need more dark clouds over my life.”

He described the environment within Kiss as “nice and calm” since guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer had become mainstays of the lineup. “Eric and Tommy have been with us for a very long time, and it’s professional to the highest degree. Everybody is happy to be together. Everybody shows up on time – there’s no, ‘the dog ate my homework.’ None of that crap.”

Simmons, a well-known skeptic of substance abuse, continued, “When you use drugs and alcohol and other bulls--- things, it’s everybody else’s fault. You’re always the victim. You never take charge of your situation – and I’m sick of it. I don’t tolerate any of that. I won’t have any of those losers around in my life.”

Vincent became the Ankh Warrior when he joined the band in 1982, but was dismissed two years later after relationships with Simmons and colleague Paul Stanley broke down. A writing gig for 1992 album Revenge resulted in a second departure. He unsuccessfully sued Simmons and Stanley for royalties relating to 1983’s Lick It Up, after having claimed he’d been underpaid.

The 65-year-old guitarist was recently confirmed to appear at the Atlanta Kiss Expo in January, which aims to focus on the years during which he was a member of the band. He promised fans an "amazing and memorable time" when he announced his appearance.
