Found Money
Wouldn't it be nice to find a pot of gold on this St. Patrick's day? Well this might be the next best thing. You may be owed money that you don't even know is yours. I know, it sounds like a scam artists' line but it's possible. It's called unclaimed funds and they usually stem from old bank accounts, stocks, life insurance, and even un-cashed checks. New York state is sitting on over 452 million dollars worth of unclaimed funds from just last year. You may want to take a minute out of your day and visit the website for the Office of the New York State Comptroller.
Who knows, maybe you had a long lost distant uncle that died and left you money? Maybe a relative opened a bank account for you and forgot to tell you? It may be a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to look.
If you find that you are owed a ton of money, don't forget the person that told you about it. I'm easy, a cash thank you would be good enough for me.
