Former Tioga Legislative Chair, Dougherty Dies at 89
Tioga County is remembering a former leader who served in many capacities from the Tioga Central School board of education to Legislative chairman from 1990 to 1995.
Ronald Dougherty passed away Tuesday, November 23. He was 89.
According to the paid obituary, the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. November 29 at the gymnasium of the First Church of the Nazarene. A funeral Mass will be celebrated November 30 at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick’s Church in Owego.
A life-long resident of Tioga County, Dougherty joined the county legislature in 1988. He also worked with the Tioga County Industrial Development Association, the Tioga County Council of Local Governments and was a past Chairman of the Tioga County Republican Party.
In 2014, the Tioga County Legislature renamed the municipal building on Main Street in Owego the “Ronald E. Doughtery Building.”
