A new report from the Food and Health Network of South Central New York shows nearly 400 Tioga County children participated in the Summer Food Service Program last year.  The assessment shows nearly 8,500 children in an eight county region in the Southern Tier benefitted from the program last year which offers free meals to students aged 18 and under.

The number of children getting summer meals in the region grew by 2,170 from 2013 to 2015.

This year, the Tioga County Anti Hunger Task Force is providing free summer meals at a number of areas throughout the county, including at several schools in the Owego Apalachin District.  Many of the locations are providing breakfast as well as lunch with the Nichols Elementary School offering a snack and supper.
