Food-A-Bago Food Drive Was a Huge Success [PHOTOS]
I can't find the best word to describe exactly what I'm thinking. Maybe it's ''wow'' or ''awesome'' or ''unbelievable'' or...
Whatever word works best, let's go with that. The reason? Whale listeners donated more non-perishable food to our annual Food-A-Bago Food Drive for Broome County CHOW than I've seen in several years (possibly ever, and we've been doing this for 14 years with tremendous results)!
Soon we'll find out the total weight of food collected, but as far as I'm concerned, once we received that first item of non-perishable food over a week ago, the food drive was a success.
We can't thank you enough for all of the food, cash and check donations.
I was worried when Jim's RV put us up to the task of filling what's called a 'Toy Hauler' camper. There was a lot of space to fill inside, given that the back end is designed to fit motorcycles, ATVs, snow mobiles, and possibly a small car. But you did it!! Not only did you fill that space but also the living room/kitchen area, the bedroom, bathroom, hallway cabinets and floor space!
From one item, to grocery carts and truck beds full of food, (including all the challenges that went out over the week) The Whale, our Townsquare Media sister stations, Broome County CHOW and the needy families in our area, are more appreciative than you'll ever know.
You know what? I think I figured out the word I've been looking for. Proud. I'm so proud of our community and that fact that we take care of others in need.
Thank you!
