
Excitement Builds For New York State Field Band Competition
Various high school 2025 fall sports are entering or already in the playoff rounds throughout New York State and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It's an exciting time for high school sports.
But there's another exciting competition happening this month (October). It's the New York State Field Band competition. This year's event will be this Sunday, October 26th, at the JMA Wireless Dome, 900 Irving Avenue in Syracuse.

High School Field Band Categories Represented by New York's Southern Tier
High School field bands are divided into several categories, including small school, large school, and national categories - SS1, SS2, SS3, LS2, LS3, and National. There are over 50 New York State high school field bands competing in the various categories.
The Southern Tier of New York is well represented, including Union-Endicott in the SS3 category, Norwich, Horseheads, Johnson City, and Vestal in the SS2 category, and Corning in the LS2 category.
In 2024, Corning came in 4th in the Large School 2 category. Union-Endicott placed 6th in the Small School 3 category. In the Small School 2 category, Horseheads placed 4th, Vestal - 6th, Johnson City - 8th, and Norwich placed 10th.
