The company that wants to build a controversial natural gas transfer station along the West Service Road in the Town of Fenton is offering to take residents on a free field trip.

According to several media reports, NG Advantage wants residents of Hillcrest, Port Dickinson, Chenango Bridge and the Town of Fenton to take a day trip to its facility in Vermont on Saturday, July 15.

The bus will leave at 6 a.m. on the 15th and return at 10 p.m.  The company says it will provide free food and beverages.

The move, NG says, could help wipe away safety concerns and misconceptions swirling around the Hillcrest project.  That project is to load trucks of compressed natural gas coming from the Millennium Pipeline to be transported to the Oneonta area.

Past Town and public meetings on the plans have been dominated with concerns for safety, lights and traffic as the planned site is near an elementary school, park, busy school bus routes and residential neighborhoods

Construction is currently temporarily halted on the project over technical issues with the application.
