The filing only cites economic reasons for Felchar Manufacturing’s plans to lay off 144 workers at the Industrial Park plant. The department of labor indicates about 394 employees currently work at the plant.

The layoffs would amount to almost a third of the number of workers employed at the Kirkwood facility.  The first workers being laid off are scheduled to leave the plant for the last time July 1 with the rest of the layoffs spread through the month and possibly to the end of august.

Felchar is based in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.  Company officials have not commented on the “WARN” filing.
