Last year, Rolling Stone Magazine published an article listing their pick of the 30  best sports movies of all time. It had a lot of great picks and got me to thinking about what my favorites are.

I came up with five of my favorite sports-related movies and based my decision on several different criteria including excitement, action, drama and emotion. Some of these just may bring a tear to your eye, but you know, we men don't cry, especially over a movie, and a sports related movie at that. Right?

So, here goes, along with one of the best scenes from each movie. What are your favorite sports related movies?

    Talladega Nights

OK, this is a goofy movie, but it's got some really funny scenes. How can you not laugh at the dinner scene with the family, and the banter back and forth between Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton, Jr?

    Rocky IV

Apollo Creed dies in the ring after boxing with Ivan Drago. Now we're pissed the whole movie, leading up to the match with Rocky and Ivan in Russia. And you know how that ended up. My favorite of all the Rocky movies.

    Slap Shot

The Hansen Brothers. What else can I say? Oh, and the brilliant performance of Paul Newman, plus the fact that it's based on our teams of the AHL and mentions Broome County? Gotta love it!

    Miracle

Yea, I love hockey movies, and this is one of those (mostly) true to life movies that remind you how great it is to be an American, and how with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Now this is a movie that brings a tear to your eye.

    Friday Night Lights

I loved this movie so much, I ended up watching the TV series, which was also one of the best TV dramas I've ever seen. Unfortunately the series didn't get enough viewers to keep it going longer than it did. As for the movie, there's no grand prize at the end. It goes to show that you can't win 'em all, but you can still keep your head up high.
