A man accused of killing a Johnson City resident whose body was found in a car near the Oakdale Mall has pleaded guilty to murder.

25-year-old Brandon Rose of Endicott entered the plea Monday afternoon in Broome County Court.

According to prosecutors, Rose admitted that he repeatedly shot and stabbed Omar Terry during a dispute on July 24.

Police found Terry dead in the back seat of a car that had gone off a Route 17 exit ramp in Johnson City.

Officers discovered Rose hiding in bushes near the crashed car.

Rose was to have gone on trial next Monday. With his guilty plea, sentencing has been scheduled for July 27.

In a statement, Broome County District Attorney Michael Korchak said Rose should get the maximum sentence for killing Terry. He said: "This brutal and callous murder warrants a sentence of 25 years to life" in prison.
