A Broome County resident is heading to state prison for shaking a young child, seriously injuring her brain.

In Broome County court Wednesday, 26-year-old Kelvin Lebron was sentenced to six years for reckless assault of a child. In addition to the prison time, Lebron was sentenced to three years parole.

Lebron was convicted by a jury in February after a prosecutor said the girl had been shaken in November 2017.

According to the Broome County district attorney's office, Lebron was arrested in January 2018 following an investigation by Endicott police. He was indicted by a grand jury about five months later.
