Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective is getting the vinyl reissue treatment later this month.

The box, originally released in 2013, offers a comprehensive overview of Allman's too-brief career, compiling 129 tracks alongside essays and rare photos arranged in tribute to the late Allman Brothers Band guitarist. The original version is still available on CD, but those wishing to experience Allman's playing on vinyl have had to go back to the original records — until now.

Due Oct. 28 and available to pre-order now, the vinyl Skydog spans an impressive 14 180-gram LPs, and is limited to an individually numbered run of 1,000 copies. This edition of the box also includes a handful of previously unpublished photos of Allman, reproduced on each LP sleeve — some of which you can see in the video above, which Ultimate Classic Rock is proud to exclusively premiere.

"The Skydog retrospective tells my father Duane Allman's life story in the fierce and melodic voice of his guitar. From his earliest high school strivings to the stunning virtuosity he finally achieved, it is all here," says Allman's daughter Galadrielle in a press release. "Being part of this project has deepened my understanding of who my father was, and he was remarkable. I hope it will do the same for all who listen. This collection deserves to be heard on vinyl, still the warmest and richest format there is. I'm so proud it was possible."

"We're proud of our ongoing relationship with the Allman family, and of the success that this set has achieved," adds Rounder Records VP Scott Billington. "Duane Allman's starburst of creativity might have happened almost fifty years ago, but his music and his guitar innovations are timeless."
