Driver Sitting at Green Light in Westover Charged
Broome County Sheriff’s officials say a Dutchess County man is being ordered to appear in Town of Union Court to face numerous charges after he was seen stopped at a green light for an extended period of time at 1:26 a.m. July 11 in Westover.
Deputies say 57 year old Shayne Crowley of Whappingers Falls was seen trying to use a GPS app on his cell phone while behind the wheel near the Express Mart on Main Street.
He’s charged with drunk driving, refusal to take a breath test, driving to the left of pavement markings, using an electronic device while driving and stopping on a public roadway.
Authorities say while Crowley refused to submit a breath sample, he showed signs of intoxication and was administered Standardized Field Sobriety Testing before being charged.
