The New York Knicks President Phil Jackson, has made another step in the process to free up more cap money for next season. The Knicks made a 3 team trade deal that sent JR Smith, Iman Shumpert and Center, Samuel Delembert, to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Knicks will get Forward Lou Amundson and Center Alex Kirk from the Cavs, and Forward Lance Thomas from Oklahoma City.

Whats more they will clear millions of dollars and have more cash to acquire some big name talent, one player on their wish list, Center Marc Gasol from Memphis.

I think this is a good move it's a complete rebuild year and with the 76ers (5-28) winning last night, coupled with another Knick loss (5-32), it's official, the New York Knicks are the worst team in the NBA and will get a low 1st round draft pick.

I feel good about this deal and I'll tell you why. First, JR Smith is not good for this team, he takes way too many bad shots and I am happy to see him go.

Iman Shumpert has been a solid player at times, but he'll do much better with the Cavs then in the triangle offensive.

I really liked Sam Dalembert, he was my favorite Knick acquisition this year, solid defender with a pretty good jump shot, but a casualty of the dreaded league salary cap.

I really don't know a lot about Amundson, Kirk and Thomas, but I am looking forward to seeing what they can do for this team, I'll have more in my next blog.

I have to believe that Phil Jackson knows what he's doing here. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but a complete rebuild was needed and in it's wake, I do believe Knicks fans will reap the benefits of a play-off caliber team, capable of winning a championship.

But for now, it's 4 more months of sub par basketball for Knicks fans.
