Don’t Judge Motorcyclists Based on Recent Events

I was really ticked off when I saw that 7 riders were arrested for reckless driving on Long Island this weekend and another 30 or so were cited for gathering on government property. My brother-in-law commented on Facebook yesterday that he witnessed them cruising past his house.

Great. Just what good bikers need. Another reason for people to judge them.

Well, I am here to set the record straight. Those motorcyclists in Long Island and the ones that beat up the SUV driver in New York City, are not a true example of what bikers are all about.

The bikers I know, and have met over the years, are very much into helping their communities, patriotic, and fun loving. They work hard at their jobs and the rides are a way to relax. Many times they ride for a reason. This is not a hobby, it is a lifestyle.

I am part of American Legion Post 86's Legion Riders, with my husband. It is great to see them in action out in the community and helping their brothers and sisters in arms. The jerks downstate have no clue, it is a safe guess, about what it means to be a true biker.

If you don't know a biker, get to know one. You'll see what I mean. And do me a favor; pass this on so more people are set straight!
