It took two years, but we finally have a new Dick's Sporting Goods Open champion.

Cameron Beckman went -4 on Sunday to finish the tournament at -12, enough to secure the 2021 Dick's Sporting Goods Open title.

Beckman began Sunday on a positive note with three birdies in his first six holes before finishing out the front nine with two bogeys to bring him back down to Earth a bit. He came surging into the back nine though, at one point holing five birdies in a row.

Beckman joined the PGA Tour in 1999 and had three tour victories over his career: The Southern Farm Bureau Classis (2001), the Frys.com Open (2008), and the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun (2010).

This is Beckman's first year on the PGA Champions Tour, and is currently 65th in the Champions Tour standings, so Beckman wasn't exactly the favorite to win, but a consistent performance throughout landed him the trophy.

Ernie Els, who had entered Sunday at the top of the leaderboard at 11 under par and leading by three strokes, went -1 on the front nine and +1 on the back nine to end the day treading water and the tournament at -11 under par for a second-place finish. Els was a player many had their eye on, as it was his first visit to En-Joie Golf Course as a member of the Champions Tour.

This year's edition of the DSGO was the first to take place since 2019, when Doug Barron came out on top. The 2020 Dick's Sporting Goods Open was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
