Fire at Abandoned Building on Murray Street, Binghamton

Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire at what is said to be an abandoned building on Murray Street at Gerard Avenue.

Firefighters were called to the scene by a witness at around 6:55 a.m. November 19 saying they could see flames in the structure.

Crews arriving on the scene reported unstable conditions inside the building as water lines were being set up.

Traffic was being diverted between Clinton Street and Gerard Avenue.

The fire was reported out within an hour but firefighters remained on the scene for several hours looking for hot spots and mopping up.
