Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say an alleged drunk driver who was involved in a crash in the Village of Delhi wasn’t old enough to legally drink.

Authorities were called to the McDonald’s restaurant at 7 a.m. December 9 and found the 19-year-old driver had hit a protective pylon at the drive-thru.

Andrew Lyon of East Meredith is accused of driving with a blood alcohol level at three times the legal limit.

The teen is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of greater than .18% and was ticketed for speed not reasonable, not having a registration sticker fixed to the windshield and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

He was sent to the Delaware County Jail on $1,000 bail to wait for his next date in Town of Delhi Court.
