Broome County Jason Garnar is clearing the air after Governor Andrew Cuomo reported that there was a confirmed case in Broome County.


Garnar stated the individual lives in a completely different county and that there are no confirmed cases in Broome County.


 

ORIGINAL STORY:

Broome and Delaware counties now have people who have been infected with the coronavirus, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The governor Thursday afternoon announced each county now has a single confirmed COVID-19 case.

No additional information has been released by state or local officials about the location of those who have tested positive or whether they have been hospitalized.

Cuomo said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in New York state has risen to 328. He said 47 people are in hospitals receiving treatment. No deaths linked to COVID-19 have been reported in the state.

The governor announced that gatherings of 500 or more people are being banned in New York state as part of the effort to reduce the spread of the virus.

The prohibition of large gatherings will take effect at 5 p.m. Friday. Broadway theaters are being shut down Thursday evening.
