Many local districts have reported close calls.  Motorists must stop when school buses are stopped and lights activated even on a divided roadway like the Vestal Parkway.

Some volunteer fire departments have dedicated their road-side signs to messages reminding motorists to watch for stopped school buses.

Meanwhile, there are continued calls for improved technology for alerting drivers that a bus is stopped and more strict punishment for motorists who break the law.
