The Children's Home is a not-for-profit organization that offers over 19 programs and assists over 500 children and their families.  According to Broome County Executive Jason Garnar the initial focus at the new Children's Home facility will be the continuation of the before and after school programs on site at the Union-Endicott and Maine-Endwell school districts.

Speaking with Roger Neel on WNBF's Binghamton Now program this (Thursday) morning Garnar says the county has been working on getting someone to purchase and utilize the vacant facility.  He says the Children's Home is buying the building outright and there are no local, county or state funds involved.  The County Executive also noted that with the size of the building, an indoor pool and gymnasium he believes the Children's Home will pursue additional tenants or groups to use the facility.
