Sheriff’s officials say the tractor trailer was stopped in the southbound lane to make a turn onto a side road at around 7 a.m. when the car driven by Kathryn Frear of Greene, that was behind the truck, slowed down.  A Freightliner box truck driven by Kenneth Price of Buffalo was also southbound and failed to stop, running into the rear of Frear’s car.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Jereme Lehmer of Oxford was not hurt.  Price was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Traffic on Route 12 between Oxford and Brisben was detoured for the entire morning.

The Sheriff’s office says the incident is still under investigation.  There has been no word on any charges filed or tickets written.
