Sunday, August 5th. Cheap Trick will perform live at Spiedie Fest. The band played Spiedie Fest back in 1998 when the festival was held at the Tri-Cities Airport in Endicott. The festival was only held there for a couple of years and then it returned to its original home at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton.

I remember Cheap Trick at Spiedie Fest very well. They opened with one of their biggest hits, the song 'Surrender'. The highlights of that show for me were the songs 'Dream Police' and 'She's Tight'. To be honest with you, I was kind of happy when they were done and boarded the bus because I had a big hand in organizing the music at that Year's event and it made for very long days. I was there from 6 a.m. until way after dark each night. After they packed up the bus and they pulled out, I thought to myself I can finally go home and get some sleep.

Spiedie Fest is a great community event. Every year hundreds and hundreds of volunteers help to put on this weekend festival. This year will mark the 34th annual event, which according to the Spiedie Fest website, is considered one of the Top Three Balloon Rallies in the county. The annual event will feature balloon launches all three days (weather permitting), awesome food, amusement rides, the volleyball tournament, and the car show and so much more.

It opens Friday night with disco legends K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Saturday is the country artist Phil Vassar, and again on Sunday, Rock N Roll Hall of Fame members Cheap Trick will wrap up the event. Tickets for the three-day event, which also includes admission into the concert area, are on sale now for $25 until July 8th., then they will go up to $30. Tickets are available at Weis Markets, the Oakdale Mall, Lupo's, Wegmans, and Sidney Federal Credit Union. Get more information can be found on the Spiedie Fest Website.
