Chapman has been a fixture of Channel 12 for more than two decades. She joined WBNG in 1994, starting as anchor of the station's Action News morning reports.

Before moving to Binghamton, Chapman worked as a reporter and anchor at an Oklahoma television station.

For many years, Chapman co-anchored evening Action News programs with Greg Catlin. She held several positions at the local CBS affiliate over the years, including anchor, reporter, executive producer and news director.

Chapman anchored her final newscasts on Friday evening. She announced her departure from the station during the 5 p.m. program.

Chapman told viewers that after 23 years at WBNG, she was preparing to take "a new direction in her life." She said she was "excited and thrilled" that she'll continue to be part of the community.

Chapman will be joining a Binghamton public relations firm.
