It turned out to be a big night for the Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team at the Events Center on Wednesday night. They defeated the top team in America East, the Hartford Hawks by a final score of 73-62. it was the first conference loss for the Hawks who now are 7-1 and 14-8 overall. Binghamton moves to 4-4 in the conference and 9-12 overall. The Hawks came into the game riding a nine-winning streak.

Carly Boland keyed the Bearcats with a game-high 19 points. Rebecca Carmody had another strong outing scoring 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds. The Bearcats
made 51 percent of their field goal attempts and converted on nine of 21 shots from beyond the three-point arc. Point guard Kai Moon also hit for double figures with 15 points. Binghamton High School grads Olivia and Annie Ramil added eight points each.

Rebecca Carmody is closing in on one thousand points in her Bearcat career. She now has scored 949 points which puts her in 19th place on BU's all-time scoring chart. She leads the conference in rebounding with eight per game and leads the Bearcats in scoring averaging 13.2 points per game.

The Bearcats remain home to host the Albany Great Danes on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. That game will be aired on News Radio 1290 WNBF. Airtime with Cam Lavallee is 1:45 P.M.
