The Binghamton Bearcats earned their first America East conference win on Wednesday night with a 79-75 victory over the UMBC Retrievers at the Events Center.  Binghamton took a 39-32 lead into halftime.  The Bearcats increased their lead to 14 points in the first two minutes of the second half but UMBC was far from finished.  The Retrievers stormed back to take the lead and then the two teams went toe to toe exchanging the lead up until the closing seconds.

Senior Richie Caldwell Jr. sealed the Bearcat win by making a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to give BU its first conference win of the season.  The Bearcats are now 1-1 in America East play while the Retrievers are 0-2.

Brenton Mills and Sam Sessoms keyed the BU victory.  Mills went 4-8 from three-point range and scored a game-high 22 points. Sessoms scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half and went 8-18 shooting from the field.  Pierre Sarr battled early foul trouble but still notched double figures with 12 points.  Freshman George Tinsley had a game-high 13 rebounds for Binghamton.

The Bearcats play their first conference game at UMass Lowell on Saturday at 5:30 PM. Broadcast time is set for 5:15 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
