Broome County reports a one-day, double-digit jump in the number of coronavirus cases.

Broome County’s rate went from 1, 220 cases reported on September 2, an increase of six from the previous day, to 1,236 reported September 3.   

Elsewhere around the region, Chenango County has reported 229 cases since September 2, an increase of one this week. There have been seven deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Chenango County.  Cortland County added two cases this week for a total of 97 and there has been one death.  Delaware County has 110 reported cases and six deaths while Tioga County added one case in its report September 2 and has 223 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths.

New York State continues to show an infection rate at under one percent in spite of a growing number of coronavirus positive cases appearing on college campuses.  There were 889 additional cases reported September 3 and seven more fatalities statewide.
