Road work and construction continue as we segue into autumn. Here are some road work areas to be aware of when you head out this week (September 22nd). Remember to slow down in road work/construction areas. Let's keep everyone safe - the road crew, other motorists, and of course you and your passengers.

City of Binghamton

Milling and paving of Main Street, between Floral Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, continues. A detour is in place on Grand Boulevard. Paving is expected to be complete around the end of September.
Roadwork continues on US Route 11 in both directions between Century Drive and Page Road. Two north lanes of four are blocked for wall replacement through November 15th between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The Leroy Street and Helen Street Reconstruction Project began last week. Leroy Street, from Helen Street to Kneeland Avenue, is closed to through traffic during working hours but reopens overnight and on weekends. A detour is in place on Riverside Drive. Leroy Street is expected to reopen by the second week of October, with work then beginning on Helen Street.

Johnson City

The Village of Johnson City Water Department is flushing hydrants from 1:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. on several village streets through Wednesday, September 24th.

Vestal

Daytime westbound lane closures on the Vestal Parkway (Route 434) between the Binghamton University entrance and Bunn Hill Road on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The Route 201 exit to the Vestal Parkway's westbound lanes will be closed. Motorists wishing to travel west on the Parkway from Route 201 will be detoured onto Vestal Road and Bunn Hill Road. Westbound drivers on the Parkway who wish to head to Route 201 northbound will be detoured to Vestal Road while the work is underway.

Roadwork on NY 17 westbound over Choconut Creek in Vestal. One alternate lane of two lanes blocked for bridge repairs to occur through October 17th from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Broome County Highway Work for the week of September 22nd

• Blacktop repairs on Broome Corporate Parkway
• Cleaning ditches and rebuilding shoulders on Trim Street, West Chenango Road, Hyde Street, Ballyhack Road, Conklin Forks Road & Brady Hill Road
• Culvert work on Hyde Street
• Grader patching on Farm to Market Road, East Maine Road & Hyde Street
• Mowing and painting on various county roads

Castle Creek/Whitney Point

Roadwork on US 11, both directions, between East Hill Road in Castle Creek and Collins Street in Whitney Point. One alternate lane of two lanes is blocked for paving through September 25th during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tioga County

Roadwork on NY 17 in Tioga westbound between Exit 64 - NY 96 in Owego and Tioga County Line; Barton Line in Barton, one left lane and shoulder of two lanes blocked for mowing behind the guiderail off the left lane and shoulder on SR-17 WB between Exits 64 & 60 through September 26th from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
