The Festival of Lights at Otsiningo Park looks to be bigger than ever this year flowing the announcement that the county recently purchased the Forest of Lights drive-through display from Tall Pines Players Club in Friendsville, Pennsylvania.

The expansion will allow the Festival of Lights to loop around the upper section of the park and create an out-of-vehicle experience as well. But while we wait for this great experience to begin, you can experience and participate in another event at Otsiningo Park during this Halloween season.

It's the 7th annual Broome County Parks and Recreation Scarecrow and Contest Display. According to the Broome County Parks website, individuals, businesses, schools, families, clubs, organizations, and groups were invited to put together a scarecrow design to be displayed at Otiningo Park in Binghamton.

Entries were set up throughout the park over the first weekend of October, and are now complete for the public to see and enjoy. And the participation part for the general public is to vote for your favorite scarecrow and contest display.

Voting began on October 3 at Otsiningo Park and will continue through October 23rd. A  voting station complete with ballots and a mailbox are set up at the park to cast your vote. Each scarecrow display is numbered and lists who the designers are.

The winners of the 7th annual Broome County Parks and Recreation Scarecrow and Contest Display will be announced on October 28th. All of this year's entries look really cool. It appears that there are around 50 entries. Check it out before the contest ends on October 23rd.
