BREAKING NEWS: Binghamton Firefighters Battle Apartment House Fire on Doubleday Street
City of Binghamton fire investigators will be looking into the cause of a fast-moving blaze at a three-story apartment house at 20 Doubleday Street.
The fire was reported by a third-floor tenant shortly before 5:30 a.m. May 19 and smoke and flames could be seen by crews arriving on the scene.
The resident told authorities that the blaze began in the kitchen and they were unable to put it out before it began to spread.

As firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported the blaze had already extended into the attic.
All the residents of the multi-family home reportedly were evacuated safety.
The fire was reported under control in about fifteen minutes.
Doubleday was closed down between Chenango and Emmett Streets.
