Authorities in Delaware County say a 10 year old boy is being treated for life-threatening injuries after falling off a ledge in Hancock.

The child was with adults when he reportedly fell shortly after 3 p.m. August 24 from Jensen’s Ledges.

It took rescuers using ropes and harnesses an hour to get the child off the mountain and on his way to a regional pediatric trauma center.

No other details, including the child’s name, have been released.  New York State Police have only said they boy was in critical condition when he was flown to the hospital.

In addition to the New York State Police, officials from the New York State Forest Service, Department of Environmental Conservation, Office of Emergency Management, Delaware County Emergency Services, Deposit, Long Eddy and Equinunk Fire Departments, Village of Hancock Police, and the Upper Delaware and Hancock Ambulance companies and LifeNet medical helicopter all responded to the scene.
