Binghamton Teachers Congratulate Students at Their Homes
The celebrations continue across Broome County as educators strive to honor those who had to learn remotely over the last few months.
A First Student school bus led a parade of vehicles traveling through neighborhoods on Binghamton's North Side Friday afternoon.
Fifth grade students from Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School on Ogden Street were saluted by mask-wearing teachers who carried colorful balloons and congratulatory signs.
Children and their parents smiled as the traveling caravan visited to mark the end of a school year that changed dramatically with the end of face-to-face instruction in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mobile and drive-through graduations and promotion celebrations have been going on across the country as traditional events have been curtailed due to health concerns.
