Binghamton Receiving $500,000 in Federal COVID-19 Aid

The city of Binghamton is receiving emergency grant funding through a federal program designed to help cover costs associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

Congressman Anthony Brindisi has announced more than $500,000 in assistance has been approved for the city under the CARES Act.

In a news release issued Tuesday, Brindisi said the money will help the city of Binghamton take care of the "most vulnerable" residents

The Emergency Solutions Grants are administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

This is the second round of grants approved by Congress to help local governments respond to problems related to the health crisis.

The money can be used to prevent, prepare for and respond to COVID-19 among those who are homeless or are receiving homeless assistance.
