The Police Department will be enforcing all applicable laws concerning large off-campus house parties or social gatherings.

In light of the COVID-19 situation, large gatherings are already being banned with a county order concerning gatherings of more than 50 and President Trump’s administration saying people should avoid groups of 10.

In a posting on Facebook, the Binghamton Police Chief says “we discourage all off-campus fraternities, sororities or college groups otherwise and the student population as a whole from organizing, engaging in and hosting any such off-campus house parties or gatherings.”

In addition to the concern about the spread of the coronavirus, officials say they have their usual concerns about serving and underage consumption and possession of alcohol, occupancy and code regulations and public nuisance issues.
