Binghamton Man Accused of Trying to Smuggle Microwave Under His Coat
A Binghamton man is accused of trying to stroll out of the Walmart in Johnson City with a microwave oven stuffed under his coat.
Johnson City Police say 27-year-old Zachary Rindenow, who was already banned from the store for allegedly stealing items, is charged with felony burglary.
Police say at around 1:30 p.m. November 16 the store reported a man was stealing items who had been banned just the day before. Security personnel said they saw Rindenow shove the microwave under his coat and leave the store without paying for it.He was seen running behind the store and into a business.
Police say in the reported incident the day before, Rindenow provided authorities with a false name while he was being arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise.
In addition to the felony count, Rindenow is charged with misdemeanor counts of petit larceny and false personation.
