Authorities say 33-year-old Damon Jones of Thorp Street was taken into custody late Wednesday night.

Investigators believe Jones broke into the Oakdale Pizza restaurant at 47 Court Street shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say money was taken from the cash register at the business. The burglar is thought to have left the area on foot after stealing money and other property.

Detectives say entry to the store was made through an access door. They did not say whether any of the cash or other missing items have been recovered.

Jones was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.
