As unfathomable as it is, every two minutes a child of this world is diagnosed with cancer. As a matter of fact, more kids die from childhood cancer than from any other disease. The Candor community is well aware of this and year after year, community members step up, making a difference in the world of sick kids while also making a bold statement.

On March 17, 2000, the very first St. Baldrick’s event took place. The goal that year was to shave 17 heads and raise $17,000 for pediatric cancer. To the surprise of everyone, that number turned into 19 shaved heads, and $104,000 was donated to fund childhood cancer research. What's more is that since 2005, the St. Baldrick's Foundation has donated nearly $300 million dollars in research grant funding.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity and through their incredible volunteer base, St. Baldrick's has been able to fund more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except for the United States government.

On Sunday, March 29, Candor will host it's 9th Annual St. Baldrick's Event at the Candor Elementary School from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You're invited to join the residents of Candor and shave your head bald for kids with cancer. Not up for shaving your head? That's okay! You're still invited to stop by and cheer on all of those who will be going bald.

Candor's St. Baldrick's event is free to attend, family-friendly, and will feature several raffles, a variety of food, music, and more. Katherine and her daughter, Grace will be participating in this event. This amazing mama/daughter duo will be shaving their heads for the fourth year in honor of their courageous friend, Brody, and would appreciate any donation, big or small.
