The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team won the opening game of their America East Conference schedule Saturday afternoon at the Events Center with a 69-58 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats (UNH)  The win moves Binghamton's overall record to 5-11 while the Wildcats fall to 2-12.

Binghamton's victory broke New Hampshire's nine-game winning streak over the Bearcats and trims the Wildcats' edge in the all-time series to 19-18.  UNH is now 9-6 in games played at BU.

The Bearcats stormed out to an early 18-6 lead only to have the Wildcats come back to tie the game at 18-18.  At the end of the first half BU led by just two points 35-33.  Binghamton turned play up a notch in the second half and outscored the Wildcats 34-25 to secure the win.

The Bearcats had three players in double figures led by freshman guard Sam Sessoms with 21 points.  Caleb Stewart fired in 15 points while Chancellor Barnard scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  J.C. Show also scored in double digits with 10 points.  Show needs to score seven more points to hit the 1,000 career mark (including one season at Bucknell before transferring to Binghamton).

Josh Hopkins was outstanding for the Wildcats scoring a game-high 23 points.  He went 7-9 from three- point range and 8-12 overall.  Forward David Watkins also had an outstanding performance for UNH with a double-double.
