Yesterday, (Monday) after I got off the air I went home and picked up my wife and we made our way to The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin. Townsquare Media Binghamton had a team in the Binghamton Devils golf tournament for ACHIEVE.

Our team consisted of my wife and me, and Glenn from our sister station along with his father Carl. Every team ends up with a fifth team member in the captain and crew tournament and that fifth member is one of the players or coaches from the Binghamton Devils.

This year our pro was defenseman Colton White. Colton was fun to have on the team. He had a great friendly personality and he helped bail us out on a few holes. Everyone on the team contributed to the effort and we finished at 3 under. That could have easily have been six under because we lipped three birdie putts and we were putting for birdie on every hole but 5 where we had to scramble to make par.

The course was in great shape especially considering all the water that the course has taken on over the last month or so. The tournament included both lunch and dinner and the food was great as well.

Every third hole or so they had a table set up with snacks. They had one with cookies, one with fruit, one with energy bars and nuts, and one with candy. The beverage cart was making its way around the course and the drinks were included in the cost of the tournament.

There was a silent auction with some incredible items to bid on as well. All the money raised went to benefit ACHIEVE which helps people in Broome, Chenango, and Tioga counties with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities. You can learn more about ACHIEVE here.

If you are a golfer, I highly recommend golfing in this tournament next year.
