Area Police Agencies Don Pink Badges for Breast Cancer Awareness
Law Enforcement Officers in a number of agencies around the region are donning colorful new badges in the month of October for a good cause.
City of Binghamton Police and officers in the Cortland County Sheriff's office are among those wearing bright pink badges in place of their usual shields for the month to raise awareness about breast cancer and money for breast cancer research.
The officers had to pay for the badges themselves with a portion of the sale being donated by the manufacturer to breast cancer research.
In Cortland County, 50 officers purchased pink badges for the effort.
The American Cancer Society is partnered with the participating police agencies.
Contributions for the Cortland Sheriff's office effort can be made to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes at their site www.crcfl.net or through the Binghamton Police Fundraiser page for the American Cancer Society.
