The National Weather Service in Binghamton is keeping tabs on changing conditions for the region over the next few days and caution there is the possibility of “nuisance flooding” and even significant snow accumulation.

The National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Storm Watch for later this week for the Southern Tier and Central New York as well as Susquehanna and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania.

The Watch is in effect from 12 a.m. March 2 through 12 a.m. March 3.

The National weather service says heavy snow is possible in the region with total accumulations of 5 to 9 inches. The higher end snow amounts will be in the higher elevations.

Officials say motorists should plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute on Friday. Significant reductions in visibility are also possible.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor WNBF for the latest forecasts.
