Alabama Shakes Album Review

I've heard been hearing of the Alabama Shakes for about a month now and recieved their new cd Boys and Girls for my birthday and I was not disappointed. Singer Brittany Howard at only 22 years old has a voice that sounds a thousand years old. Her intonation and certian stress on particular words reminds me a great deal of Robert Plant. Brittany's voice speaks volumes of wisdom she couldn't possible have at her age and the three piece band backing her certianly rises to the plate as well. The simple trio of a drummer, guitarist and bassist pack an old school punch with a mixture somewhere between blues, soul, rockabilly and southern rock. This album is a must if your looking for something different and rootsy.
