Former New England Patriot's tight end and convicted murder Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell this morning. He died after hanging himself this morning Massachusets prison officials said.

Just a few days ago Hernandez was acquitted of a double murder in a separate case, but he was still serving time for the murder of Odin Lloyd on June 17, 2013. On April 15th, 2015, Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder, as well as five weapon charges. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was serving his sentence at the Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts.

He was a fourth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played for the Patriots from 2010-2012. He won a National Championship in 2009 as a member of the Florida Gators.

Hernandez was 27.
