July 20th, 1969.  The day we conquered the moon.  Neil Armstrong stepped onto its surface and said "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

A feat that, only 10 years earlier, the world didn't think could happen........  By a man who was a true hero; someone to be looked up to.

I wonder if anyone under 40 really knows the importance of this moment and the impact on the future made by Armstrong's step onto the Moon.

These days, Snooki and the Kardashians are looked up to.  WHY????  What have they contributed (in a positive way) to our way of life?  What impact have they had on the advancement of humankind?

As far as I can see, they have only contributed to the dumbing down of America.

So, do me a favor.  Take a few minutes to sit your kids or grandkids down and tell them about the journey to the moon that our brave astronauts took and what an accomplishment for all of mankind this was.  And why this is the type of person to look up to.

And to Neil Armstrong and his family.  Thank you, God Speed and rest in peace.

For me, a person needs to have a extraordinary talent, accomplishment, or contribution to society before they even deserve to be revered.  But that's just me.

What are your thoughts?
